The exam is of 80 marks and 20 marks are for internal assessment. The syllabus is divided into 8 units. First unit is Pure Arithmetic which consists of study of Rational and Irrational numbers. Second unit is Commercial Mathematics which consists of study of Compound Interest. Third Unit is Algebra which consists of study of Expansions, Factorisation, Simultaneous Linear Equations in two variables (With numerical coefficients only), Indices/ Exponents and Logarithms. Fourth unit is Geometry which consists of study of Triangles, Rectilinear figures, Circle, Arc and Chord Properties. Fifth unit is Statistics which consist of introduction, collection of data, presentation of data, graphical representation of data and mean/median of ungrouped data. Sixth unit is Mensuration which consists of the study of area and perimeter of a triangle and a quadrilateral, area and circumference of a circle, Surface Area and Volume of Cubes and Cuboids. Seventh unit is Trigonometry which consists of the study of Trigonometric Ratios, simple 2-D problems involving one right-angled triangle, Concept of Trigonometric ratios of complementary angles and their direct applications. The objective of the subject is to understand the subject, its concepts, formulae’s and their application to real life. It also ensures to create interest in Mathematics as a subject and application to advance studies in Maths and Science. Last and not the least is to create passion for the subject.
